Preparing your bank statement for applications
Application tips
Jul 20, 2026
People obsess over having "enough" money in their account for a visa application. That's only half the picture. What actually gets scrutinized is the shape of your account activity over the last 3–6 months.
A few things that quietly work against you, even with a healthy balance:
A flat, static balance with no regular inflow. It can look like money was parked there specifically for the application, rather than being genuinely available income.
Frequent small transfers in and out. This can resemble the account being "topped up" from elsewhere rather than reflecting real, independent income.
A single huge deposit followed by silence. Officers are trained to notice statements that look "prepared" versus statements that look "lived in."
The fix isn't cosmetic — it's timing. The strongest applications are the ones where the bank statement wasn't built for the visa; it simply happened to already look convincing when someone decided to travel.
